1980’s was all over their kitchen. White wash cabinets and gold. The whole thing shouted the ‘80’s. It was time for a refresh.
After a few home tour visits and some research, they were ready toget their first ever remodel underway. Beyond Kitchens was their choice because they found them to be very knowledgeable and had heard great things aboutBeyond Kitchens from past clients.
Originally, the fireplace surround was a critical feature; it was to remain untouched, and all selections needed to compliment it. The project became a kitchen, powder room, and laundry room. A more traditional style with white cabinets and quartz countertops was desired. “Creating shallow cabinetry for oils and spices to wrap around an existing chimney was just one of the creative design elements that went into this design”, shares Beyond Kitchens designer, Christina. The buffet area doubles as a bar and incorporates the wine refrigerator the homeowner had been wanting. The oven had always been hard for the owner to reach, so getting that into a better position was important.
When a remodel is taking place, changes will happen. “It was wonderful. Every time we wanted something changed, they did it. They stayed in budget while working hard to get us what we wanted”, says the homeowner.
The family loves being in their kitchen now. It’s bright, functional, fun to work in, and the oven is easy to use. A bonus has been the extra space in the laundry room affording more room for folding and storing.
And, that fireplace surround... it’s new too. Near the end of the project, after working to incorporate it seamlessly, the owner decided to update it. They love the new fireplace surround and have shared with Diane at Beyond Kitchens that it’s one of their favorite parts of the remodel!

A dated 80’s kitchen was updated by “gutting” the entire kitchen space and providing new cabinets, counter tops, flooring and lighting. The cabinets were customized for the storage requirements of the client.
